The Paul Frank model is now within the arms of a Swiss licensing firm.
Futurity Manufacturers has acquired the worldwide mental property rights to Paul Frank, the 25-year-old cartoon character-driven model began in California. The IP contains greater than 150 characters, together with the well-known “Julius the Monkey” that’s been the model’s emblem for years.
The price of the acquisition was not disclosed. Paul Frank was beforehand managed by Saban Capital, a Los Angeles funding agency. The model’s imagery is already on a line of youngsters’s apparel and in depth equipment.
With the acquisition, Futurity mentioned it intends to develop the licensing footprint of Paul Frank internationally. The comparatively new firm has operations in Zurich, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Sydney. It needs to “take the evergreen IP again to its Southern Californian roots while reshaping its celebrated world attraction for the enjoyment of generations to return.”
The one different model Futurity operates now’s Piping Sizzling, a surf targeted apparel and equipment model primarily based out of Australia. Based in 1975, the corporate was acquired by Futurity for an undisclosed sum in 2019.
