Josh Homme joined a Reddit Ask Me Anything session on March 15. He addressed various topics, including the potential for a new Them Crooked Vultures project.
When asked about ‘Them Crooked Vultures 2: Electric Boogaloo,’ Homme appreciated the humor in the question, comparing the name suggestion for a possible second album to the movie ‘Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo.’
Regarding a reunion with John Paul Jones and Dave Grohl, the singer shared:
“On the subject of Vultures, it’s sort of not my job to put Vultures back together, that’s Dave [Grohl]’s job. My job is to dance around the right words and try to write some music with the guys.”
He’s Not Sure About A Band Reunion
After their 2009 album and subsequent tour, Grohl hinted at a second album for Them Crooked Vultures, but plans stalled, and the group went on hiatus. Homme expressed that he’s open to the idea of regrouping if there’s a chance for a second album.
Sharing his doubts about a reunion, he added:
“Is there any chance [of a reunion]? Yeah. But I just like that it’s not up to me. I have other responsibilities. So, is there a chance? Yeah. There is. Is it a good chance? No.”
Homme is currently focused on Queens Of The Stone Age, especially with their upcoming tour. They’re promoting their latest album, “In Times New Roman…,” which was released on June 16, 2023, by Matador Records.
The Vultures Are Busy
The Queens will start their world tour on April 1 at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Canada. Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters are also planning a tour, starting in May in Dallas, Texas.
John Paul Jones is involved with his own projects, including performances with Sons Of Chipotle at the Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, Tennessee, in March 2024. Jones will perform solo at the festival on March 22, followed by a performance with Anssi Karttunen the next day.
